Doctor’sCafe#27『Innovations for a Sustainable Future』
- Event
- 2025.4.4

At Doctor’s Cafe, we welcome guest speaker Dr. Keisuke Matsumura, a former FL-SPRING Fellow and currently an Assistant Professor specializing in energy storage technologies. He will share the story of how he expanded his core research field to launch a startup tackling real-world challenges through interdisciplinary innovation.
This session will highlight a new technology that uses “electricity -generating microbes” to produce power through microbial fuel cells, and stores that energy for continuous use – even in off-grid environments. Recognizing the potential of this approach, Dr. Matsumura founded the startup RING-e, which is working toward practical implementation and commercialization. In partnership with Shikoku Electric Power Company and its group company Ikata Service, the team is now conducting field trials in mandarin orange orchards in Ehime Prefecture. The event will include a presentation followed by a Q&A and open discussion.
If you are interested in research, entrepreneurship, or interdisciplinary collaboration, we invite you to join us!
